678 participants from 20 countries/nations took part in this year’s TIMA convention in Hualien Jing Si Hall with 560 volunteers helping out. This year event is held from 14 Sept to 17 Sept not only commemorate the 20th Anniversary of TIMA, it is also the 50th Anniversary of Tzu Chi Foundation and the 30th Anniversary of Tzu Chi Hualien Hospital.
Viewing the approaching of Typhoon, the organizing committee held an ad hoc meeting in Hualien Jing Si Hall to discuss the contingency plans or required adjustments in case the Typhoon causes any disruption to the program.
Train services in Taiwan may be disrupted depending on the development of the storm. The committee has to foresee any possible required changes like the transportation of the participants, accommodation and meals. Arrangements were also made to ensure the doctors coming from western part of Taiwan will be able to return in time for their outpatient schedule the next day.
Volunteer Gao Xiu Min (standing front) from the organizing committee is seeking everybody’s opinions.
If the participants could not make it to Hualien because of the storm, the convention would be held at the Jing Si Hall at Shan Chong, New Taipei City. Accommodation would be arranged at San Chong and Lu Zhou Jing Si Hall separately.
Alternative measures were carefully planned to make sure the convention will turn out smoothly in spite of the coming storm, so that the overseas participants will feel at home regardless of how the storm could be.
