Words from the Superintendent
In the twinkling of eyes, Dalin Tzu Chi General Hospital is five years old. As the saying goes "every footstep will leave a trace; everything will leave memory ". In these five years, the beautiful trace and memory have been saved and they all turn into the sense of gratitude in my mind. Superintendent Dr. Lin Chin-Lon
Dr. Lin Chin-Lon
Like what we said in our vows in the hospital inauguration, firstly we should appreciate that Master Cheng Yen leads global Tzu Chi members to devote themselves to build such physical environment and facilities. Because of her, we can work on our specialties and provide high quality of medical service in a warm and friendly attitude in a very short time. We exercise the function of Dalin Tzu Chi General Hospital and it becomes the life-saving cornerstone in Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan area.

Secondly, I appreciate that all staff members. Because of good karma, we gathered in Dalin, working together day and night. When we are so absorbed as to neglect sleep and meals, the beautiful image of the hospital is created and approved by the public. The most important thing is appraised by the residents of Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan area. The amount of service frequently breaks the record. The achievement belongs to all personnel in the hospital. Because of their selfishness and complete involvement, the accomplishment is so glorious.

Finally, I appreciate the volunteers from every corner of Taiwan. They devote themselves to the hospital with asking return. You will receive warm greetings as soon as you enter the door of the hospital. Because of them, illiterate elderly people can make registration, go for clinics, examination and get medicine without any obstacles. When people wait for something or some one, they will listen to very classic music or old songs performed by the piano, erthu fiddle, dulcimer and accordion in the lobby. The scene remind me a picture several decades years ago that people gathered together for festivals to celebrate in front of temples and under banyans. Besides, Brothers and Sisters accompany and console patients and families outside the clinic and intensive care room or in the general wards. They alleviate sufferers’ pain and encourage them to have a new start in the life.

Although we have good grades and feel very happiness in these five years, we have to remember that we shoulder Master Cheng Yen’s missions—being committed to Buddhism and to all living beings. There is still some room for improvement. Let’s work together to upgrade ourselves. It is hoped that this family is not only for medical care but for heart and nature cultivation that attracts large amounts of people with the same goal to join us and create a glorious future.
