Taping the labels must calculate the distance between labels, straight them with a string, align them based on their centers and then mark the spots with numbers. It indeed looks tidy after taping all labels on the marked sports.

Before the annual convention, the Curriculum Team was busy with taping the direction flow labels on the ground to help TIMA participants to move around areas including the dining room, Sutra Lecture Hall, and etc. In addition to the direction flow arrows, other detailed indications are also labeled in order to smooth it out while movements.

Only five Brothers handled the task of taping many direction labels. They marked the spots with numbers on the ground first and then tape the labels. They were usually bathed in sweat after finishing the work in the Sutra Lecture Hall. With a ten-meter tape measure on one hand, Brother Ling Yong-Chang, contact person of the On-call Team, said, ”We first measure the distance between labels, straight the labels with a string, align them based on their centers and then mark the spots with numbers. After taping all labels on the marked spots, it looks tidy indeed.”

Outside the Sutra Lecture Hall, volunteers straightened the spots with a professional measure for precisely taping longer spot labels. Volunteers would move tables and chairs setting in the area already to accomplish the task. In order to get the precise distance, between two ten-person groups Brother Ling Yong-Chang asked only four volunteers to measure out and mark the spot. How smart they are! It’s the team work.

Because of typhoon, many programs and the schedules of lectures are forced to be changed. Dharma Master De Cheng also came to discuss with volunteers about the change and gave her warm regards.

Volunteer Lu Mei Ying said, “This year happens to be the year for the 50th anniversary of Tzu Chi Foundation, 30th anniversary of Tzu Chi Hualien Hospital, and the 20th anniversary of TIMA; there are more doctors attending than before.”“ Besides seminars scheduled as before, one extra program — performing Sutra of Medicine Buddha — was also arranged. However, it was called off because many TIMA participants cannot come back due to the typhoon. “

TIMA participants will arrive on September 13. Some of the lectures will be delivered in Sutra Lecture Hall instead of Tzu Chi Hualien Hospital. Whenever the rain season or typhoon arrives, all schedules have to be rearranged. Dharma Master De Cheng also came to discuss with volunteers about the change and gave her warm regards.

Lu added, “Volunteers always enjoy whatever tasks being assigned and appreciate whatever conditions encountered.” Many volunteers willingly take one or two days off from work and sacrifice the holidays during the Moon Festival to support the annual convention. In concert, all teams will be able to fulfill tasks. May the annual TIMA convention go smoothly during the typhoon.
