Information for Authors
1. Scope
  The editor of the Tzu Chi Nursing Journal welcomes manuscripts addressing to new knowledge in medicine and nursing, research articles, administration projects, and case studies. The manuscripts must be an original works, neither published previously nor submitted simultaneously elsewhere.

2. Format and Word Limitation of Manuscript
(1) Manuscripts should be typewritten or printed, 30 words per row × 20rows, total 600 words in one page, double-spaced, on one side of A4 paper only with 2.5cm margin on each side of the text, 1.5cm margin on each top and bottom of the text, also include page number in each page.
(2) A manuscript of new knowledge in medicine and nursing should not exceed 6,000 words in length (no more than 10 pages).A manuscript of research article should not exceed 12,000 words in length (no more than 20 pages), administration project and case study should not exceed 10,000 words (no more than 17 pages),the content of project and case report should be base on hand-on care within previous 2 years, and the start & determination of care period should be detailed, and the other types of manuscript should not exceed 2,400 words (no more than 4 pages) . All the words counted including title page, abstract, figures, tables, and references (the blank bytes are counted). Author needs to send disc or CD-ROM of the text. Please indicate the file name, title, and the name and telephone number of the author.
(3) Figures and tables should be clearly illustrated, including the citation if they are not original.

3. The content of manuscript
(1) Title Page: the title page must include both English and Chinese descriptive title and concise title of the article, authors’ names and credentials, their affiliation and full mailing address, including e-mail address and telephone numbers. Also include correspondent author,s name, address, telephone and fax number, and e-mail address. Please indicate the total words of manuscript.
(2) Abstract: Manuscripts of new knowledge in medicine and nursing, research article, administration project, and case study should not exceeding 300 words in Chinese and not exceeding 200 words in English. The English and Chinese abstracts should have the same content and three to five key words should also be provided.
(3) Heading: The content of research papers should include Introduction, Literature Review, Method, Result, Discussion, and Conclusion (including limitation and implication).
(4) Reference: References (within the last five years preferred) in the manuscript should be cited. The number of references for research paper should not exceed 25 citations, with other types of manuscript not to exceed 15 citations.
(5) The writing style of manuscript must conform to the publication manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 5th edition, 2001.

4. Writing styles for references
(1) List the references in Chinese first, followed by those in English. The literature sources are arranged in alphabetical order by the surname of the first author.
(2) List the last name(s) of author(s) in English name(s). Use abbreviation for the first name(s) .
(3) Use capital letters for each word of the name of journal, no abbreviation. The title should not be in abbreviation and only the first word of the name should be in capital letter.
(4) The name of titles, name of journals, and volume numbers should be in italics.
(5) For journal articles: authors?surnames and initials, year, titles of articles, names of the journal, volume number, first and last pages should be in capital letter.
Examples: Lai, H.L. Good, M. (2005). Music improves sleep quality in older adults, Journal of Advanced Nursing, 49(3), 234-244.
(6) Journal article, more than six authors, after the sixth author’s name and initial, use et al. to indicate the remaining authors of the article.
Examples: Peng, T.C., Liao, K.W., Lai, H. L., Chao, Y. F., Chang, F. M., & Harn, H. J., et al. (2006). The physiological changes of cumulative hemorrhagic shock in conscious rats. Journal of biomedical science, 13(3), 385-394.
(7) For books: Surname and initials of author(s), year, title and subtitle, edition, city, publishing house.
Examples: Guyton, A.C., & Hall, J. H. (2005). Textbook of medical physiology(11th ed.). Philadelphia: W.B. Saunders.
(8) For chapters in books: authors’ surnames and initials, year, chapter number or title, surnames of editor(s), title and subtitle, edition, first and last pages, city, publishing house.
Examples: Good, M. (1999). Music therapy. In J. J. Fitzpatrick (Ed.). Encyclopedia of nursing research (pp. 318-391). New York: Springer.
(9) Sources on the Internet (Please confirm to the publication manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 5th edition, 2001 for details).

5. Submission of Manuscripts:
(1) The editor has the right to revise the content and writing style of manuscripts. The unacceptable format of manuscript will not be reviewed. Declined manuscripts will not be returned.
(2) Three copies of the manuscript with a letter of consent stating exclusive submission should be submitted to The Tzu Chi Nursing Journal. The authors who send case study manuscripts should also send a copy of certificate of review from Taiwan Nurses Association. 6. Proofs and Offprints
(1) The members of the Review Committee with double-blind review approve the submitted articles.
(2) After the manuscript is accepted, the authors must provide the final edition of manuscript in disc.
(3) Full-Text article (PDF file) and two current issues will be supplied free to the author for each paper published. The authors will be charged for additional offprints or issues.
(4) After the English manuscript is accepted, the consultant of Tzu Chi Nursing Journal will
  check the grammar of the articles. The cost of stylistic revision should be paid by the
  author.
(5) Accepted manuscripts become the property of The Tzu Chi Nursing Journal and should not be reproduced without our permission.
